International affairs and student counselling is organised on several levels at the University of Turku. Please check which support services are appropriate for your needs:

 

International Office

The International Office is in charge of coordinating the international affairs at the university level and for the Faculties of Humanities, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Law, Social Sciences, Medicine and Turku School of Economics. They support the faculties and departments in international affairs. Faculty of Education still has its own International Officer. The International Office also handles the production and distribution of study and student guides as well as promotional marketing materials. International Office organises Orientation courses for students.

 

Student and Admission Services

Representatives of Student and Admission Services can assist you with all administrative matters of the student register. Student and Admission Services is responsible for all of your academic and personal information held in the university study register.

Educational Development and Counselling Services

The unit of Educational Development and Counselling Services provides various counselling services for the students and the staff of the University. It also coordinates these services at the administrative level. Some of the functions of the unit are:

  • Career planning and job-search assistance
  • Coordination of internships
  • Services for students with disabilities and for students with special needs
  • Study psychologist services
  • Development and implementation of ICT in teaching

 

Academic guidance at the faculties

Study Advisors and the Heads of Academic and Student Affairs are available at each faculty for guidance concerning study affairs at the faculty.

Departmental contact persons

At the departmental level, the departmental contact person or the non-degree programme coordinator can help you with specific inquiries about course and programme details such as course content, objectives and instructors.

Secretary for International Affairs at the Student Union

The Secretary for International Affairs is responsible for the support services provided for international students at the Student Union of the University of Turku.

Your personal tutor

The personal tutor is a volunteer Finnish student whose responsibility is to help you get adjusted to student and daily life in Turku. The tutor's contact information is sent to you via email after you have been accepted by the University of Turku.
