Mobility grants for scholars and students from 30 countries to the University of Turku

The University of Turku is involved in six Erasmus Mundus Action 2 mobility projects. The University coordinates one Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project, Triple I , and is a partner in five other EMA2 projects in five different Lots (geographical regions). In total these six EMA2 projects will have 1,122 mobility grants for students and scholars. Most of them will be for applicants from Third Countries to 28 EU partner  universities, of which the University of Turku is one of the choices for the applicants.

Of the 946 grants for Third Country citizens some will be for applicants from non-partner universities or professionals and public administration personnel outside the academic sphere. Three EMA2 projects (Triple I, BMU and JoinEU-SEE) will have grants for students and scholars from EU partner universities to visit partner universities either in Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Ukraine, or in one of the Western Balkan countries.

The grants are for undergraduate, masters, doctorate, post-doctorate and academic staff mobilities, and the monthly grant is EUR 1,000 – EUR 2,500 / month depending on the level of the grantee. The length of the exchange period can vary from one semester to 34 months. The EMA2 grant may cover degree studies as well. The staff exchanges are shorter, in most EMA2 projects for one month only. The scholarships cover in addition the travel and insurance costs, and in certain cases also the tuition fee. According to the EU guidelines, all mobilities must start in October 2011 at the latest.

Application deadlines of the projects vary:

•  Triple I the online application is open until 31 August, 2010

•  JoinEU-SEE the online application  will be open from 15 October until 28 November, 2010

The websites and application deadlines of the other EMA2 projects will be announced a.s.a.p.
