TSE Entre and the Turku School of Economics

Established already in the 1990s and employing more than ten fulltime research staff, TSE Entre is the leading entrepreneurship research centre in Finland. Funded research projects form the core of our activity: the current project portfolio ranges from purely academic endeavours (e.g. three projects funded by the Academy of Finland) to applied studies (e.g. three projects funded by the Finnish Agency for Technology and Innovation) and contract research for policy-making purposes (e.g. ministries and the EU). TSE Entre is active in the international scientific community for example in the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor, by hosting the secretariat of the European Council for Small Business (ECSB) and by our staff members serving in the editorial boards of high-ranking entrepreneurship journals. TSE Entre also contributes to the entrepreneurship curriculum in the School of Economics.

TSE Entre is part of the Turku School of Economics (TSE; www.tse.fi), which is the business school of the multidisciplinary University of Turku (www.utu.fi). Founded in 1950, the TSE today serves 2,000 students with nearly 200 teaching and research staff in economics and diverse business disciplines. Entrepreneurship is one of the three strategic foci at the TSE.

The university is located in the historic city of Turku on the southwest coast of Finland approximately 170 km west of Helsinki. Turku is the only city in Finland where you can find the typical characteristics of European cities dating from the Middle Ages, such as riverfront, market square, castle and cathedral. Home to 180,000 people, contemporary Turku is a modern city with a vibrant cultural life and an international airport connecting the city to various European destinations.
